We sincerely hoped that we would be posting a new e-newsletter each month when we opened our web-site in May. We were doing well until fall when our schedule became more hectic than we had anticipated. That, and computer failure (in the shop twice), nearly kept us from any more posts this year. Thank you for being patient with us!
September was Latino ministries month. We preached in several Spanish churches, welcomed a new Latino church into our fellowship, and helped one of our Latino pastors become a A/G credentialed minister. Any of you who have ever had the blessing of worshiping with Latinos knows how joyful and exuberant their services can be! It was like being back in Brazil again!
We then preached at yet another Slavic church, and what a special worship time we had! The altars were full of people seeking the Lord following the service! In fact most every service in Slavic churches end that way—we love the Slavic services as they remind us of the churches we grew up in!
Pastor Ron Simmons, a former Missionary to Indonesia, who still has a great heart for missions made this observation: “I would like to say to every pastor: Our churches raise thousands of dollars each year for missions in far off places, why don’t we offer the use of our church facilities rent free to help reach lost ethnic people here?”
What he said makes sense to me. I hope every pastor who reads this will consider opening their doors to ethnic groups in their neighborhoods. What better way to get the most from our investment in church property, than to serve more than just one congregation.
December is Ethiopian month. A couple of new Ethiopian plants are in the works, and an established church is considering affiliation with us soon.
We are so blessed to have you as a partner in ministry! Thank you for your faithful support of this ministry! Please keep us and our ethnic pastors in your prayers! It will take a lot of prayer and hard work to get 50 new ethnic churches planted by 2020.
Merry Christmas, and Happy 2013 to each of you.
